Our Trainers

  • Amber

We’re not ones to brag, but Amber is kinda famous. Not only is she a rock star Reformer instructor, but she’s choreographed and danced with Grammy Award-winning artist Monica and appeared in numerous films and fitness videos. Needless to say, she specializes in Pilates for dancers, post-rehab Pilates, and sports-specific training. You may not do pirouettes in class, but you will sweat and challenge your body in ways you never thought possible.

  • Anita

Anita has been helping people reach their fitness goals since 2003.  A certified personal trainer, kickboxing coach, indoor cycling instructor, comprehensively trained Pilates instructor, TRX trainer, and yoga teacher, Anita can basically give you jello legs in any class. She’s a firm believer in functional fitness and cross-training, so don’t be surprised if you see her at the front of a Reformer class for one hour, and doing pushups with you in the next. Basically, she’s your fitness BFF.

  • Brittney

One class with Brittney, and you’ll never believe her side gig is teaching dance to small children. Don’t worry; she’s not asking them to do dead lifts. Making sure her clients always have an eye on proper form and technique, Brittney feeds off of the encouragement and camaraderie of group fitness. Her classes are high-energy, non-stop, and will push you to your limit. There’s a reason we call her the “Punisher.” Ok, we don’t really call her that. But that’d be kinda fun if we did.

Certifications: National Personal Training Institute, CrossFit, TRX

  • Chloe

Chloe is a walking national monument. That is, she’s the rarely-spotted DC native you only hear about in urban legends. Playing both basketball and volleyball at the college level, Chloe takes that leadership and motivation and brings it to all of her classes. Her quick wit and dynamic personality keeps you engaged, almost to the point where you don’t even notice you’re working up a sweat. Almost.

Certifications: Personal Training, Yoga 200RYT, Pilates mat and Reformer, Group Exercise, Nutritional Coaching

  • Emily

She's been practicing yoga since high school, where she used it as a balance to running, field hockey, and lacrosse. Fast forward a few years later, and she's a graduate of The Studio DC's 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and is a certified Resist-A-Ball C.O.R.E. instructor. When off the mat, Emily is politically active, enjoys traveling, and loves to cook. She's a native of HuSTLe City. (That's St. Louis for all you noobs).

  • Erika

Seeing as though she specializes in circuit training, high-intensity intervals, strength, and kickboxing, Erika is that person you don’t want to meet in a dark alley. Just kidding. Or are we? Anyhoo, her enthusiasm for group fitness creates a fun and welcoming environment for beginners and seasoned athletes alike. Effective results is the name of her game, and she’ll stop at nothing to push her clients beyond their limits.

    Certifications: Personal Training, Group Exercise

  • Erin

Y’all. We’ve got a real, live college professor teaching at our studio. She doesn’t wear ascots and smoke a pipe, but Erin does moonlight as the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness at George Washington University. Aside from teaching groups of doe-eyed underclassmen the ins and outs of personal training prep, she’s also been at the front of group fitness classes for over 10 years.

Certifications: Personal Training, Group Exercise, Peak Pilates, YogaFit, BODYPUMP, TurboKick, Metabolic Effect

  • Hansen

Rhythm and Top 40 remixes. That’s what you’ll find amid the flashing lights in the spin studio when Hansen’s name is on the schedule. He’s been at the front of the classroom since 2009, and he specializes in making you sweat like it’s the weekend. After battling childhood obesity himself, Hansen brings a passion for total body fitness and focuses on making sure every single person gets off the bike feeling accomplished.

  • Jeff

Jeff is an ACE-certified personal trainer and former Division I Baseball player who’s  all about finding new ways to shock his clients’ bodies. With exercises. Not jumper cables hooked up to a pickup.  A big proponent of functional fitness and body weight training, Jeff is constantly looking for unique ways to test body control in different planes of motion. Jeff especially loves teaching TRX classes where he can help others discover their physical limits and then blow past them.

  • John

John is, and always has been a health and fitness enthusiast. Beyond his B.S. degree in Exercise Science, his NASM certification in strength and conditioning, or his abundant wit and ability to laugh at his own jokes, is his belief that everyone can become stronger, fitter, and faster. His classes focus on the execution of perfect form instead of rushing through movements simply to get a better time. He considers his greatest personal accomplishments to be his children - daughter Logan and son Lincoln - both of whom were born doing burpees and walking on their hands.

  • Jordan

No stranger to teaching group fitness, Jordan has been in the game in DC and Virginia since 2013. His favorite movement to coach and perform? The muscle up and burpee, both of which we believe are qualifications to make him certifiably crazy. Need more proof? He also attended the inaugural Power Monkey Camp, hosted by former US Olympic Gymnastics team member Dave Durante. To make him seem semi-average, Jordan enjoys history and logic games outside of the studio

  • Julie

Know that kind of trainer that smiles as you sweetly, then kindly asks you to do 10 more reps? That’s Julie. Her classes are open to all fitness levels and are very client-centric. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, build strength, or just reduce stress, Julie is driven by seeing her clients progress in their fitness journeys. Julie also puts her money where her mouth is. When she’s not teaching, she’s working on her own fitness in one of the many classes Reformation Fitness has to offer.

    Certifications: Peak Pilates

  • Kendall

A recent transplant to the DMV (that’s DC, Maryland, Virginia...not your friendly neighborhood license-hocking establishment), Kendall is a bona fide physical therapist. That doctorate not only gives her great insight into how clients should be moving, but it also plays right into her Pilates Reformer motis operandi: blending classical and contemporary styles to enable the body to move efficiently and to allow everyday motions to feel more balanced. Certifications: Polestar Pilates Comprehensive

  • Lisa

Calm, cool, and collected. That’s the name of Lisa’s game. In her classes, your face says “I’m totally cool” while your abs scream “what in the world am I doing here?!” Basically, her classes are harder than they look. With an emphasis on alignment and the nuance of movement, Lisa takes you on a deliberate journey of experiential biomechanics. Short version: feel parts of your body you never felt before.

  • Mansur

Mansur is an Ironman. Literally. He recently completed a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and 26.2-mile run. He’s also biked 400 miles around the entire island of Puerto Rico. Lucky for you, he can’t fit all that into one of our 50-minute classes. Teaching for over seven years, Mansur’s focus is proper form and technique, giving his clients all the tools they need to live a healthy, injury-free lifestyle.

Certifications: Personal Training, Group Exercise, TRX, KBC KettleBell

  • Mike

    Bio coming soon.

  • Misook

Misook has over 16 years of teaching experience, though you wouldn’t know it with as easily as she still pops up into a handstand. She began her fitness career as a student at the University of Maryland, where she earned a B.S. in Kinesiology. Misook’s classes are energetic and fun...and incredibly challenging. When she’s not at the head of the class, she’s training with her husband or on a play date with her two adorable children.

  • Mohamed

    Bio coming soon.

  • Nick

As an ACSM-certified Personal Trainer and the current Personal Training Supervisor at The George Washington University, Jeff maintains his own fitness regimen with weightlifting, triathlete competitions, and Tough Mudder races. Drawing on his passions, no two workouts with him will ever be the same. In an attempt to combine his two competing loves of physical wellness and American Politics, he is pursuing a Masters in Public Policy at GWU, concentrating in Health Policy. Nick believes health is a public good and a human right and hopes to make this country a healthier place in the future.

  • Scott

Creativity? Check. Rhythm? Check. Lots of sweat? Double check. With over 10 years of experience, Scott brings the heat in every single one of his classes. Outside the studio, Scott's usually volunteering at a local animal rescue league, traveling with his husband, or spending time with his two "kids" (of the canine variety).

  • Sean

This guy has energy. Lots of it. What else do you expect from a guy that is a self-proclaimed running and spinning fanatic that has finished the Kilimanjaro and Victoria Falls half marathons in Africa? Aside from providing you kick-ass music to help you conquer those nasty hills, Sean can also hold a thrilling conversation on the effect derivatives have on the stock market (he has an MBA from Boston University). When he’s not on the bike, you can find Sean in our ‘hood and serving on the Board of Directors of Whitman-Walker Health.

  • Shafer

Shafer grew up a fat military brat (his words, not ours!). After discovering Spin as an undergrad at the University of Maryland, he was hooked, using his rides as a key part of his 100-lbs. weight loss journey. Fast forward to nine years ago, and he decided to become a bonafide certified instructor. Shafer loves music and he loves cycling. Put the two together, and you’ve got a class that synergizes high energy and intensity workouts. In other words - and we’re singing to the tune of Alicia Keys here - you’re legs are on fiiiiiirrrrrreeeeee.

  • Sue

She’s always got a smile, but that doesn’t mean you’re not going to work up a sweat in her classes. Always ready for a workout, Sue brings serenity and poise to Pointe and playfulness and enthusiasm to CoreBlast. She balances her career as a social worker by helping her clients revisit their childhood ballet classes and improve balance using stability balls. Pretty even trade-off, we think.

  • Virginia

Want to take a bilingual spin class where the instructor can also explain what exercise does to your metabolism? Well, we don’t have that class, but we have the trainer who could do it. Virginia is a recent grad from the George Washington University where she double-majored in Spanish & Biology. She has an undying love for group fitness, which, you know, is a good quality for a Reformation Fitness instructor. When Virginia isn't on the bike, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and also loves to paint.

Certifications: Cycling, Peak Pilates, NASM Personal Training
